A timeless classic moving through time and space.

Noir puts a supernatural spin on a timeless classic, bringing film noir to life. The 2023 premiere was held at Stonehooker Brewing Company, immersing audiences in the ambiance of the genre, the atmosphere of the brew hall, and the linearity of the vintage diner booth. Bringing Frog in Hand’s dystopic production character, Noir explores the seduction of binary thinking in an examination of right vs wrong;  where judgement wavers depending on the teller of the tale. Noir also considers memory and narrative in response to trauma – a conversation important to our time in light of the multiple ‘truths’ associated with climate crisis and issues of social justice.

As production designer, it was a joy to work in the brewery – finding new perspectives and possibilities for performance, and new ways to use existing props, and set materials.  As with other Frog in Hand collaborations, sets were immersive, props and costumes were of found material or recycled clothing.  All were repurposed post-production.
