Wallflowers

Wallflowers transforms garments and clothing forms revealing their underlying stories and memories. Made out of Japanese gampi paper, these iconic forms trigger recollections of events; they are filled with expectation and loss. I began by drafting the patterns using historical patterns as reference.  I then starched the paper to enhance its sculptural quality and textural appeal. The pattern was finally cut and carefully assembled. Absent of bodies, the delicate garments are reminicent of shed skins such as snakes and cicadas, asking us to question what we leave behind ...
